Magic Shell: Make Your Own
Last week it was all about Cronuts, this week ice cream. My sweet tooth is getting the best of me this summer. Speaking of summer, did you know July is National Ice Cream Month? It's also my birthday month (July 10th is my day) perhaps that's why I love ice cream so much? In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. Hey...that's this Sunday or should we say Sundae? In honor of National Ice Cream Month, I thought I'd share a super simple Magic Shell recipe my friend recently introduced to. You all remember magic shell when you were a kid, right? You know the ice cream topping that goes on like fudge and dries into a crispy, crackly coating once it hits something cold? I couldn't wait to share her recipe and other ideas with you...

DIY Magic Shell Recipe

2 parts coconut oil to 3 parts chocolate - make as much or as little as you would like {Makes 1 Cup}

2 Bars of good quality chocolate, approx 3 oz each 3.5 Ounces of Coconut Oil

1. Chop your chocolate and add it to a microwave safe container with coconut oil. Allow to melt in 30 second intervals, until it's all melted.

2. Pour over ice cream (or anything frozen), and watch it harden. Then crack it open. Magic!

3. Pour leftovers in a glass jar or bottle and store in fridge. All you need to do is re-melt in the microwave before using it again.

While doing a little research I found some AMAZING recipes for flavored Magic Shell, YUM! How about Peanut Butter Magic Shell? Really????

Or Biscoff Nutella Magic Shell? Say it isn't so!
